No, someone at Guildwars Guru forgot to re-read the announcement from ANet. It is double rare drops (gold), not double unique drops (green).

Have a nice day.

Well the rare drops where the same as allways, no double drop rate, 4 runs today with diffrent groups and all togheter 14 gold drops(not counting the chests) for all 48 ppl (4 *12)
so I cant say they have doubled, that is a normal drop rate in Urgoz mission.
And yes I do Urgoz about 5-6 times a week so I have a fairly good comparison.

You know what, I was considering taking some time today and actually trying these out. I don't get to play a lot and ,just due to the time I'm normally on, have had zero luck getting a second group to stay alive in Vizunah, let alone getting further into the game.

But you know what, I don't need the hassle of dealing with the whiners. these are mislabled missions. They are not "Elite" they are "L337" missions for you fussy little brats that cannot stand to have anything but a sure thing in their little hands.

I agree that nobody really has a use for leavers but so what if you got a couple of guys that are not honed and using some exact build they swiped from an internet post. If you can't handle it, stay home.

As for he drops thing, how much does it really matter to any of you what falls? If you've done this thing before on a regular basis, you already got that stuff anyhow. All you got left to do is sell it and probably spam the chat channel when you do.

You know what, I really don't know what to say.
But you know what, those drops really salvage in to nice rare materials for armour in Nightfall, if their not perfect. Perfect ones I use.

naw, no sour grapes here. I got to have at least 500 other things I have not bothered to do yet in this game. I really don't care about getting in there and doing this. Hell, I have not bothered ascending any of the prophecies characters yet because I just don't play that much.

But I am sick of logging into a board to see what's up with an event and finding most of the thread is posts whining about how the game is ruined because the poster now has to deal with someone they deem to be incompetant. If your life requires you at all to deal with the human race on a daily basis, you should be used to incompetant and stupid. Get over it folks.

However, I've probably played Urgoz....maybe 10 times or so total with PuGs (since I'm not in a guild anymore (due to the poetic irony that everyone in my previous guild/alliance was unskilled), finding a good group is quite difficult.)

Out of those 10 or so times...only ONE group made it past the first few rooms...and only 2 people besides me in the group spoke English.

Every other PuG has W/Mos with Frenzy and Mending, with no Glads Defense, Monks without Heal Party, Nukers without Meteor Shower, Renewal or Echo (and use Fire Storm/Searing Heat), and so on.

Now the the Elite Mission is available to EVERYONE (why the heck are they putting the NPC in Kaieng Center?), there will be even more bad players. It's going to be impossible to find a skilled PuG.

This event is likely a test to see the popularity of opening the Elite Missions to everyone. (think PVPX).

Anyways, if you need a Ritual Lord, please, for the love of Grenth, invite me. (Syria Metaphysical)
Without being rude you must have been a noob at sometime or were you born in to an elite player? I disagree with what you have said and you have a totally selfish point of view. I am new to the elite missions and I admit it took 2 attempts before I got the hang of things but I was soon able to hold my own with the rest of them.

This weekend I joined two so called new noob teams and both times we nearly finished the mission but still it was worth it as we managed to get some good drops. I will agree that there are a few players who will mess a mission up and have completely no idea what to do but for most part the rest of us want to learn and take part.

You mentioned it will be impossible to find good players and pugs, do you not think by being a little tolerant and respectful that you may find them as they learn these skill instead of calling them bad players and isolating them from these areas.

Just wanted to point out that there are some people trying to obtain your level of skill who are not bad players and would like to take part in every aspect of the game after all we all play the same game, dont' we?

Default My Urgoz Experience

Here is my last Urgoz experience and probably why I won’t be trying another Elite mission for a while. Let me start out by saying that the people I went with were all very nice. I would team up with any of them again at any other time.

I hooked up my SS with a trapper team last night. They were, for the most part, a guild group with about three exceptions (me being one). First off, they wanted everyone on Vent. They said they wanted everyone to have it installed even if you didn’t have a mic…which I don’t. The client is pretty small, so I figured what the heck. I downloaded and installed it so I could hear everyone talking. I figured once it was installed we’d be off. But no, a couple people had to drop out so the Guildies went in search of more trappers. Finding a replacement for one didn’t take long, but one of the Guildies had a friend “on the way” to fill the last spot. We waited…and waited…and waited. As we were about to give up and start spamming for another Ranger, she finally showed. But she was completely unprepared to be a Trapper. The team was very patient and told her how to set up and even loaned her a staff. Anyway, one HOUR after joining the group we finally started. Most of you know, Trapper groups are efficient at killing things but it’s VERY slow going. I was prepared for this and I didn’t mind it too much. It was even entertaining hearing the Guildies chatting back and forth, joking around. And get this, with one exception, all the girl characters were ACTUALLY females. I found this interesting since we all know that about 90% of the girls in the game are actually guys. But I digress.

Early on we lose a nuker to an Err 7. Not a big problem. We still had another nuker and I’m SS with Curses maxed out. About 30 minutes later, we lose a Monk. We only had two with us in the first place, so we’re down to one. I don’t know what happened, but I think he must have been disconnected. Shortly after that, we lose a Ranger (the one we waited 15 minutes for). After playing for over 3 hours, I had nothing but white drops to show for it. We start the third room and see a chest (finally!). This is when our last nuker says she has to go because it’s getting late and she has to get up early. She waits long enough for us to clear the room so we can open the chest. It’s gold, but the drop was crap. A +5 energy smiting wand. Everyone opens the chest, our last nuker leaves and the leader says she’s going to call it a night as well.

Loooong story short. I spend over 3 hours to barely get through three rooms and have one crappy gold to show for it. Will I be going back? I don’t think so.

Tried The Deep with Lili (ranger) and got nowhere really fast. She was the next to the last standing in the entire group -- and none of us got out of our first rooms!

Then I took her to the Warren. Oh my. Had the supreme good fortune in getting into a team comprised mostly of a guild (and allies, I think) using Vent. We made it as far as knocking on Urgoz's door before we fell to a completely surprise pop-up (thought we'd cleared the whole place!) with only 9 people (server drops, mostly). It took some 4 hours or so but the team worked so well together, it truly didn't seem like it.

The other groups I tried? Well, let's just say they didn't work out (except for one and we worked our asses off!) Each time, there was one person who called the rest the infamous n00b and left in a huff in the very beginning --- note, that was the one who generally insisted on standing in front of the trapping line and got creamed straight off even tho he/she was warned. In one group, we got to room 8 or 9 (the egy degen one) -- I think mainly because the party leader had called us a bunch of idiots and left before the first group had even been cleared! We were down to eight people by the end point and simply didn't have the fire power left to keep going.

We did have one individual whom I tried to ignore because he just irritated me. An ele (of course ), he insisted on standing just ahead of the trap line and fighting. Now, everyone knows that means the foe don't hit the traps and the rangers' hard work is for naught. When I finally yelled enough at him, he got back and replied that he didn't "want to wait forever for some traps" -- and the traps set off less than 10 seconds after that on the Blood Drinkers. I replied he was right--that took SO long . In the next room, he asked why we were shooting at four different targets on the bridge (actually, he was off by himself lobbing chaos, the rest of us were plinking as we could without obstruction, Lili had one baddie down who was poisoning everyone and working on the next). I told him we were doing it because we liked to listen to him complain. He threatened to leave, but alas, he didn't.

In five trips (our electric and 'net shut off once because of a storm and server drop twice ended other attempts), I can only remember seeing about five chests. Only one had gold in it (for me, max dom wayward, egy +5^50, HSR Inspir 20%, req 8); from drops, a nice gold set of ceremonial daggers, also perfect but high req fire staff, a ton of salvage materials and a few dyes. One of our monks got a black. But I don't think each member of any team got a gold drop. All in all, I was able to tuck away some 8K net profit--- not counting the drops, salvage and dye.

As for cookie cutter builds: Lili finished Prophecies and is half done with Factions and has always run an Expert Sniper build. Recently, I've been experimenting with the Bunny Thumper for PvE (with henches) exploring with great success. For the Warren, I changed her to traps for the first time ever. Maybe that's what made it all so much more fun for me. I still didn't go with the "approved" trapper set-up and I think she used Rebirth more that four hours than my monk did the whole game , but still it was a new experience. And I agree, with no trappers, the Warren would be a lot more difficult. (I did consider trying the B/P set up but decided to stay with traps for the weekend.)

Ahh...good times. The Elite Weekend Event was probably the only halfway decent Weekend event ArenaNet has done so far...
